My redesign of my portfolio is pretty close to done. This will be my third iteration of it. lol It's pretty similar to my second iteration, mostly tweaking some layout things. Just a few things left to do....
- I have a certificate section, which I'd like the cert to show a larger view if someone clicks on it. Pretty sure I can get this working somewhat easily, just gotta write it in.
- Need to re-write my about text, again. I can't get it to sound quite like I want.
- I'd like to keep working on my navigation, add a colored highlight under the current section. Not real sure how to do this yet, so this one might wait awhile.
- I've got a little arrow on my title page, just to, you know, show that it scrolls down. Sort of feel like it should be a button but also I don't want it to be one. Think I'll wait on this until I share my page and get some feedback, see if it's mentioned at all.
- Eventually want to add my resume on there. I've got the button hidden and all laid out, so it's just a matter of actually writing a resume I'd want on there and uploading it somewhere.
But my biggest problem is the project section, the showcase of my actual work. Which, you know, is half the point of having a portfolio site. I just can't settle on the best way to show everything. In my mind, I think I want each project to be the same size and overall look, and the details inside change. The problem with this idea is that not all of my projects are really meant to be sized the same way. Some are meant for mobile so are more vertically sized, while some are more square or horizontal. So there isn't a one size fits all way of viewing, unless I leave some blank space around sides.
Maybe I can make a semi-interesting collage look, so vert. and horiz. images can exist next to each other? But I'm not sure how that will look on different screen sizes.
Also....what projects do I want to show? Do I want to group my freeCodeCamp stuff, and my Daily CSS images? Do I want to sort by date? Do I want to add tags and let them be sortable by whoever wants to see certain things? Do I want to show everything, or only my favorites? Ugh I don't know. There's too many options, and none are sticking out as better than others.
One thing I know, is I like the idea of having a static image for the main display, and when you hover or click on it, a moving image plays, a gif of the thing in action. Though not all my projects involve action (like my CSS images, which are only static).
I just can't decide. And it's basically down to just needing that. So I've got to work something out soon.
